چکیده
Abstract International efforts are underway to explore the Moon’s south polar region with robotic and human missions. These missions will address key scientific exploration objectives in a rich possibilities, designed develop sustained lunar presence. To assist trade study among six potential landing sites identified for Artemis astronauts, we examined two of those sites: 007 011. We find that (1) many craters vicinity Site excavated expose ejecta from Shackleton Slater; additionally, numerous around 011 Cabeus de Gerlache ejecta; (2) dense boulder fields occur near large permanently shadowed (PSR) at point highest surface illumination 011, which may affect activities; (3) despite some roughness, both traversable contain targets suitable situ resource utilization; (4) receive higher average than previously reported 001 004; (5) PSRs, seasonally regions, cold traps offer opportunities sample volatiles.

Rock Size-frequency Distributions at the Mars Exploration Rover Landing Sites: Impact Hazard and Accessibility
Introduction: The Viking and Mars Pathfinder landing sites and a wide variety of rocky locations on the Earth show size-frequency distributions that follow an exponential when expressed in cumulative fractional area covered by rocks of a given diameter or larger versus diameter plots. Mars lander rock distributions have been fit by an equation of the form: Fk(D) = k exp [-q(k) D], where Fk(D) i...
متن کاملWind-Driven Erosion and Exposure Potential at Mars 2020 Rover Candidate-Landing Sites
Aeolian processes have likely been the predominant geomorphic agent for most of Mars' history and have the potential to produce relatively young exposure ages for geologic units. Thus, identifying local evidence for aeolian erosion is highly relevant to the selection of landing sites for future missions, such as the Mars 2020 Rover mission that aims to explore astrobiologically relevant ancient...

of the free surface boundary condition, a new subroutine has been introduced to an existing steady 3-D body fitted code. This code was previously written for steady flow simulation in closed ducts. The algorithm used in this subroutine reduces the instability problem according to the free surface wave generation. For code validation, it was applied to two different open c...
متن کاملSurface and near-surface atmospheric temperatures for the Mars Exploration Rover landing sites
Downward-looking spectra of the martian surface from the Miniature Thermal Emission spectrometer (Mini-TES), onboard each of the two Mars Exploration Rovers, are modeled in order to retrieve surface and near-surface atmospheric temperatures. By fitting the observed radiance in the vicinity of the 15-μm CO2 absorption feature, the surface temperature and the near-surface atmospheric temperature,...
